For the Moth

The day had darkened over the Moonclan forest, the thick foliage blocking out what little moonlight there was, the clouds and the leaves working together to make the night seem pitch black. Many cats had gone to sleep and those who hadn't were clearing up in the clearing, snagging last bits of prey and sharing tongues before it go too cold to even think of being outside.

Mothtrail was sniffing over his patients one last time before going to sleep, checking all was well and they were asleep. For a few moments Lambpaw stirred, although gratefully she did not wake. The dark furred apprentice had gotten into quite the fight with a hive of bees. He made a mental note to tell the apprentices to to disturb the bees nests unless they were collecting honey...

The tom walked back in the den to where his nest was, casting one last look over the sleeping cats before curling up asleep himself.

His eyes opened into the dream, blue lights reflecting in all the angles, illuminating the forest that Starclan called home. Little bits of stardust danced in every direction, giving the place the illusion of glowing. He lkewn the place, he had visited here before, as every medicine cat had. Although whilst he was not lost, Mothtrail was still confused. He hadn't been expecting to wake in Starclan... could that mean that something was wrong? The small tom hardened his soft features and began to walk from his spot of waking, his round brown eyes searching for someone, or any sign as to why he woke there.

Walking through the star-studded forest, Mothtrail gazed around. He didn't recall ever having been at this part of the forest... strange. He supposed maybe if he was in the, well, waking world he'd be worried about getting back, although he didn't really need to bother if he'd simply wake up safe in his nest, right? So he felt not a worry as he padded past star studded trees and glowing leaves. Perhaps he was t-


The pale tom froze at the sound of his name, it having startled him, his fur having stuck up as a reflex. Slowly he turned around, his brown eyes cautious and careful. But as he saw the source of the voice; a beautiful young, reddish patched she-cat with bright, beautiful blue eyes that reflected even piece of stardust. Familiar blue eyes that made Mothtrail sigh in relief.


"Fallenwish" Mothtrail greeted, blinking thankfully at her, for being, well, her. Not that he was sure who else it could've been that was someone bad, he was in Starclan after all, but he supposed old habits died hard.... yeah, that was probably it. Banishing the thoughts, Mothtrail continured, "It's just you. You kinda scared me."

Fallenwish let out a quiet laugh, smiling at him. "Sorry, you weren't where I thought you'd be, so I needed to come and find you" .

Mothtrail smiled. "Ah okay, that makes sense. Sorry for wandering... I wasn't really sure what to do, so I just kinda walked off. It seemed like a good idea at the time anyways".

The starry she-cat blinked at him and purred. "It's fine, I suppose we are all a little curious of what we don't know".

"Er... right, yeah" Mothtrail mewed, nodding slightly.

Her expression then changed to a more serious one, her eyes losing a little of their humourous light and her features hardening. Although she was still smiling, it was clear to Mothtrail that she now meant business, and thus, Mothtrail too became more serious, although his brown eyes still glowed with curiosity. "But of course you are here for a reason" She mewed, sitting down on the starry grass.

"Of course" Mothtrail mewed quietly, nodding as he took the cue to sit down too, his fur brushing gently against the soft, bluish grass as he did so, his warm brown gaze fixed on Fallenwish's soft blue one.

"Tonight Starclan has a new prophecy for you Mothtrail. I trust that you'll be able to learn what it means in time to help your clan" Fallenwish mewed, her voice soft and gentle a she spoke to him, her clear blue eyes full with dancing stars.

Mothtrail nodded. "What is it?" He mewed, voice etched with curiosity.

"That is not for me to tell you-"

"Huh? Is there someone else here too?" Mothtrail interrupted without thinking, turning his head to the side before meeting Fallenwish's gaze once more, making him flatten his ears. "Sorry, you should continue..."

"Another one of our warriors is delivering the message to a kit of your clan, one who will in future become your apprentice... I'm sure they will be told to come straight to you in about their dream and they'll tell you the prophecy"

Mothtrail blinked. This was not what he had expected... not at all, really. He gazed at the Starclan warrior for a few more moments, narrowing his eyes slightly. "A kit from my clan has the prophecy? Are you sure that they'll remember it... can I know who it is?"

Fallenwish smiled slightly, letting out a tiny sigh, although somehow Mothtrail felt like he knew it was not one of annoyance. "You will find out in time Mothtrail, I'm sure they will be able to tell you all you need to know"

Mothtrail sighed too, looking at his paws for a few more moments before looking back up at Fallenwish. "In time..." He echoed softly and Fallenwish looked at him with comforting eyes. "I'm sure it'll be okay, I'm sure the kit who got the message will be fine at relaying it back to you"

"If you say so..." Mothtrail mewed, his voice trailing off as he closed his eyes once more, as the world disappeared from around him, blowing away like dust in the wind until only traces of Fallenwish's scent remained in his nose as he woke in the medicine cat den, a little moth sitting on his paw. He blinked his warm eyes a few times, adjusting to the light outside as he stretched in his nest, the golden moth flying off deeper into the den. The golden tom gave a long look at the nursery from the opening in his den and sighed.

He really hoped they'd remember.
